Aloha! A Little Bit About Me

Hi, my name is Joe. I've been living in the city of Hamamatsu, Japan, since January 2002. I'm originally from Hawaii. Prior to moving to Japan, I lived in San Jose, California, for two years where I worked with computers. People are often shocked that I would want to move away from Hawaii, but I honestly don't regret it--paradise is where you make it. I plan on living in Hamamatsu for quite some time...
I LOVE KARAOKE! (As if you couldn't already tell from my photo above.) My hobbies include tennis, chess, cycling, and travelling. I was very surprised at the number of chess players in Hamamatsu--there's quite a few of us here (about 30 people). I can also play shogi (Japanese chess) but I am hopeless in Igo (or Go).
I am also into jogging now. In 2003, I ran in the Honolulu Marathon, the Fuji half-marathon, two quarter-marathons (10.52 km) and as part of a relay team in a full marathon race. This year, I plan on running in the Iwata Half Marathon in November and the Honolulu Marathon in December.

I climbed Mount Fuji

Mount Fuji

Some friends and I climbed Mount Fuji in August 2003. I added a section about it in my Travel Pages, under the name "Fuji." I hope you check it out and enjoy.
I also added the URL for the PHOTOS I took during my Mount Fuji adventure. (See the external homepage URL link above, next to my karaoke photo.)
On August 13, 2004, some friends and I will climbing Mount Fuji again. I plan on taking more photos and will update my VT web site after the trip.
