"San Pedro Chile" San Pedro de Atacama by cybergenic
San Pedro de Atacama Travel Guide: 223 reviews and 634 photos
The Atacama Desert of northern Chile is the world's second driest region (icy Antarctica is first). Although the Tropic of Capricorn passes through the region, the Atacama lies in the rain shadow of Chile's Coast Range, which squeezes out the moisture from the atmosphere. Supposedly home of the legendary San Pedro Cactus, we found it hard to locate and next to impossible to spot in the surrounding desert.
- Pros:Some fantastic natural wonders
- Cons:Backpacker central
- In a nutshell:A 2 horse tumbleweed town straight out of a Western

The surroundings of the village are a lot more interesting when you take some time to visit them... on your own !!!
Great shots and info , interesting destination and a unique landscape .
Yep, another place where I'd like to be someday :-)
Very accurate comments on San Pedro, Christian: it is not what it used to be 15 years ago, and that's a shame for we travellers (BTW, did you ever saw that Spiderman guy dressed as El Zorro? I did, at El Tatio while I was camping up there)
