I was born and raised on Long Island and till this day still visit whenever I have the opportunity. There really is no end to what Long Island has to offer. Among the highlights are the beaches, shopping, fishing, nightlife, and the food. If you make it to NYC try to leave some time for a visit to LI :)

Pros and Cons

Pros:Some of the best beaches in the US; Close proximity to Manhattan
Cons:Congestion, overdevelopment, strip malls, and obnoxious people :)
In a nutshell:If you can escape the sprawl, one of the most beautiful regions in the country !!!

Would still be great to see this page moved to the correct location rather than in the middle of the Adirondacks, where you have it. Pam :-)

I am off to Long Island today! Yes! Finally found a sweet little cottage to rent. Staying in North Fork, exploring wineries...being lazy. another day I'd love to see Sagamore and that whole section of the island.
