The ruins of the Eppstein Castle give an amazing romantic atmosphere to the little town (particulary to its old city center) of Eppstein, which is one of the most lovely locations in Main-Taunus-District!! A hidden gem! Neat cities like this one with its friendly citizens make Hesse such an attracting state, and the favorite of mine (of all states of Germany)! |
| | To me the visit (after many, many years) was also like travelling back to the days of my childhood. Whenever my dad took me to many outdoor attractions such as this and other castles, I dreamed to be - when I was grown up - a fairy living at a medieval fortress. lol. Now, that dream didn't come true but my love for castles remained. |

| | From the Kaisertempel, built in 1894, there is a wonderful view of Eppstein. At the foot of the castle, in the middle of the historical old city, is the Talkirche (Valley Church), which today accommodates Eppstein's evangelical parish. wikipedia |

| Pros: | "Untouched, unspoilt looking nature, calm, green, healthy, peaceful" | | In A Nutshell: | "Lovely Eppstein has partnership with Kenilworth/UK yet no informations in English provided. Sigh." |

LauraEppstein Tue Sep 1, 2009 20:55 UTC Not a matter of stinginess. Traditionally Germans have always eaten everything with knife and fork--from pizza to fried chicken, so a napkin was never necessary. | himalia11 Wed Oct 29, 2008 19:15 UTC Nice photos of the castle! For a while I could enjoy the view on the castle each day from the train, it's really a lovely ruined castle! | VeronicaG Fri Sep 19, 2008 18:21 UTC Eppstein Castle definitely looks worthy of exploring! | nickandchris Thu Sep 4, 2008 21:13 UTC Looks a lovely place, especially the castle. |
