Monastery close the Weser River ...build by Charles the Great in 822 by order of emperor Ludwig the Pious and the monks of the westphalian monastries Corbie. He wanted to establish a bastion that would spread the christian culture from franconian empire towards the east. Corvey Castle with Abbey Church, are about one mile from Hoexter, and are supposed to become a part of the UNESCO heritage sites. The Abbey Church has the tomb of A.H. Hoffman von Fallersleben who was the author of the German national anthem. |
