Movies shot in San Francisco
Escape From Alcatraz: A must-see of course! When we did the evening tour of Alcatraz our tour guide pointed out places where certain scenes were filmed.
Vertigo: See shots of the Presidio, Fort Point, Palace of Fine Arts and many more.
The Graduate: Much of the film was shot in LA but there is the famous scene in which Benjamin Braddock is supposed to be driving to Berkeley, but instead he is on the Bay Bridge heading towards San Francisco.
Dirty Harry: The sniper is shooting from the top of the Bank of America building, Washington Square is featured and the police station is actually then Mayor Alioto's chambers which the crew was allowed to use for three days. The old rock quarry is now a shopping center (of course!).
Bullet: Thanks to ANJONZ6 for reminding me about this SF classic. Great chase scene throughout the city.
Mrs. Doubtfire: The family home is at 2640 Steiner Street at Broadway, Pacific Heights.
So I Married An Axe Murderer The parent's home was filmed at 305 Hugo Street at 4th Avenue. Then there is the famous Fog City Diner, 1300 Battery Street at the Embarcadero.

Callavetta Tue Oct 16, 2007 22:44 UTC The Painted Ladies in jello! That's funny! So you have a foot in SF and a foot in Colorado too. I have a townhouse in Keystone but I don't get there often enough these days. I really miss Colorado! | Ewingjr98 Sun Aug 5, 2007 19:02 UTC Great San Francisco pages... lots of places I still haven't been! ~Joe | mariev Sun May 20, 2007 07:28 UTC Hello and thank you for the birthday wishes | wers Thu Nov 2, 2006 11:17 UTC I've always wanted to try Dim Sum. I will spend some days in SF but it will be the thanksgiving week. What is the best time to get to chinatown to eat but avoiding the crowd? |
