The first written mention of Grodzisk Mazowiecki comes from the middle of the XIV c. It has been established from numerous archeological sites, however, this place has seen human activity much longer, going back to before the time of Christ. Grodzisk was granted a city charter by king Zygmunt Stary in 1522. But it was the opening in 1845 of the first section of the Warsaw-Vienna line in Poland that played the largest role in terms of the city's development. In spite of the fact that the Czar revoked the city charter (for role of the youth of Grodzisk in the January Uprising), Grodzisk transformed into a dynamic industrial town. By the beginning of the XX c. the city was blossoming economically, with some factories employing as many as several hundred people.
Its proximity to Warsaw brought new inhabitants from various parts of the country.
Today, the Municipality of Grodzisk Mazowiecki, lying 30 km to the southwest of Warsaw, is a small municipality - 107 sq. km. - in which 33 thousand people live. The main branches of industry there are pharmaceutics, foodstuffs, construction and chemicals. The city is located amidst attractive landscapes and puts strong emphasis on pro-environmental activities. The city and municipality's location are absolutely ideal for doing business - offering easy access by road to Warsaw, £ódŸ, Katowice, Kraków, Poznañ and Gdañsk. It takes only 25 minutes to reach Okêcie airport in Warsaw, and a trip by train to the capital's downtown takes just 40 minutes (as long as it takes to commute there from its most outlying suburbs!). People engaged in business do not have to worry about losing contact with the business world if they decide to live in Grodzisk. The town's infrastructure looks impressive: the city already boasts water from Oligocene and Quaternary water intakes; a bio-mechanical sewage treatment plant; well-developed utilities providing telecommunications, gas, water and electrical power; modernized roads; and a modern composting facility, public transportation system, city pool and large sports and entertainment hall. Finally, a hospital was built with places for 360 patients, as well as a new cultural center. The wide array of investment possibilities in this hospitable town mean that each potential investor will find something for him or herself. The municipality also offers building sites for housing, industry, services and commerce, both in the city center and in outlying areas. In addition, all the places that are available for investment are provided with a good basic infrastructure. The number of companies is increasing here each day at a rapid pace (1998-6905, 1999-7540. I really like this town, you should visit. :)
- Pros:It's very peaceful, many festivals in summer
- Cons:Nothing
- In a nutshell:Grodzisk is a very peaceful place
