Kanchipuram-The Temple City

Kancheepuram is 70km from Chennai.Its formar capital of Pallava's late 6th century to 7th AD century..It has been centre for cultural activities like Tamil learning,
cultural and religious background for centuries.

Why you should visit here,if you interested in unique architectural beauty's,Kanchipuram has magnificent temples to see.Kanchipuram is one of the seven scared cities India!!

It was said once upon a time,it has morethan 1000 temples,but now too wherever you turn you can see temples..

The main big tempels you should not miss when you visit here are,
Kailasanather Temple,Vaikundaperumal temple,Ekambarareswarar temple.This temple has one of the Heritage place. Can see old Mango tree more than 3500 years old.

The town is famous for its exquisitely woven silk sarees.Town is home of traditional silk fabric weavers.

    Certainly some very beautiful temples and carvings. Lots to see and appreciate. Like to see some beautiful silk saris. Good work, Radz! Love your pictures.

    how far is it from madras to kanchipuram by road? we will be riding a motorscooter. thansk again for great photos and info. for the ones like me who know nothing, maybe distances??

    Amazing place! May be far away for a "left coast girl" (like this term :-)) but even too far for a short visit from Germany! Your pics show well the dimensions the temples must have. How can you remember all those long temple names???

    To me Kanchipuram is a must see because of the 3500 year old mango tree. I wish it could talk; it has seen so much. I would have to try the "presatham" and "Ladu" too.
