"Tomsk" Tomsk by Sioma

Tomsk is a pretty town at about 300 Km north east from Novosibirsk.
It's possible to arrive here from Novosibirsk by bus, or minibus in about 3 or 4 hour (even though someone will tell you that minibus is faster, my tip is to take the normal bus, if you don't want to run the risk to stop in the middle of siberian nowhere...minibus often have some problem...)
Situated on Tom river (tributary of Ob river), this is one of the most ancient siberian town, founded in 1603 by kazachs.

Nowadays it's a little quiet siberian city of about 500.000 inhabitants, and it's place of a prestigious university (Novosibirsk and Tomsk are the most important siberian centers for software developing)
Very pretty the ancient part of the town, situated on a little hill; here you'll find a lot of typical wooden siberian houses, and the beautiful Ascension cathedral, and from the fort on the top of the hill you'll see a nice panorama of the city.

The main street is Leninskij prospekt, which runs from north to south; along it you'll find all the main buildings, such us the university, the city hall, and many shops.
At the southern end of the street, you'll find the memorial to 2nd world war, and you also will enjoy an amazing view of Tom river.
