I´ve choosen this picture, an old russian map of Pommern, to show the location of Gdansk. I visited Gdansk for the first time in 1956. Teir had been an upror i Poznan short time before that was the start of the transition of the Sovjet control of central Europe. October same year the uprising in Hungary tookplace. But that is a different story. never the less we have choosen to take the ferry from Nynashamn, south of Stockholm, to Gdansk in order tave "save" a long trip through Sweden each time we would like to visit continental Europe. Gdansk is an old town. The pols have restaurated the old town some portions dating back to the time of the Hansa.
