Location
Tranemo is situated in the western part of Sweden, 110 km from Göteborg.

Population
The municipality of Tranemo has a population of about 12 000.

Infrastructure
From Tranemo you can reach the international airport in Göteborg and Jönköping within one hour by car.
Tranemo is situated along one of the major Swedish raillinks which enables fast transportations from the west coast of Sweden to the east.

Tourism
The district has many lakes and streams which offers excellent fishing and canoeing. The landscape - with its many forests - is also perfect for hiking, riding and cycling. With some luck you might see cranes, the bird from which the district derives its name. Moose, deer, hares and other wild animals are frequently seen. Tranemo has many historic sites. Torpa Stenhus, one of Sweden's best preserved Renaissance fortresses, is used for various exhibitions during the summer season. Tranemo also has a unique church located in the centre of the village.

Education
There are eight compulsory schools located in the district and there's a recently built upper secondary school beautifully located by the Lake Tranemo.

Industry
In the district there are a number of successful small and medium size companies. Manufacturing and woodworking industries are supplemented with classic textile companies. Some of the largest companies are Nexans IKO Sweden AB, a cablemanufacture and Rexam Glass Limmared AB, a glassworks which has a history dating back for several generations.
Tranemo welcomes all kinds of industries. Since the majority of industries today are manufacturing and woodworking industries we especially welcome IT and service companies.
There are many acres of industrial lots available at very low costs, which further improves the advantages of establishing new businesses in Tranemo. There are also industrial and office buildings available, to buy or rent, at low costs.

In early 1902 a young railway builder came to this part of Kind. He met a girl - she got pregnant. He settled down and they got all together 11 children. One of them was going to be my father. In a village 10 kilomteres from Tranemo to the south is Ambjornarp situated. My father did not find the girl he was going to marry there but a girl he met in the capital of this part of Sweden Boras turned out to have her parents in Ambjornarp.
