The friendly culture of Ghana brings with it amusing uses of the English language, the second language for anyone in Ghana. I liked purchasing greeting cards with the amusing entries, for example. Along the roadside, I frequently found funny things to photograph. But, don't stop with this introductory page for Ghana, check out my other pages of text and images of tribal people and animals who call this nation home. Along the Atlantic coast west of the capitol of
Accra, I recommend visits to my pages for the fishing village and university town of
Winneba and slave fortress town of
Cape Coast. In central Ghana, all roads lead through the Ashanti kingdom capital of
Kumasi, a wonderful garden city. On the highway leading through to Burkina Faso, the north central tribes around
Bolgatanga offer plenty to do in a rural setting. The most wild
Upper West Region, with its capitol at Wa, provides a view into the Muslim dominated region of Ghana, and the Black Volta, where hippos can be seen. Other wildlife, including elephants, can be seen in the far north at
Mole National Park, and nearby, Ghana's oldest building, the mud mosque of
Larabanga, awaits visitors adventureous enough to get there.
