Under the Shade of the Redwood Trees Boulder Creek is a small town of about 4,000 people, located in the north of Santa Cruz County, within the shelter of the Santa Cruz Mountain redwood forests. The town is the gateway to Big Basin Redwoods State Park, the oldest state park in California. The town services the surrounding area of cabins and mountain homes with groceries, hardware, and postal service, and there are a number of good restaurants and plenty of boutique stores to satisfy the tourist. |

| | Driving Highway 9 in the Santa Cruz Mountains Located along scenic and curvy Highway 9, Boulder Creek is a good pit stop for those driving sports cars from Saratoga to Santa Cruz. Along with other Santa Cruz hamlets, like Felton, Ben Lomond, and Mount Hermon, Boulder Creek provides respite in cool and shade of the coastal redwood forest, after a hot summer day at the beach. |
