|  | Barcelona is the big city in Catalonia A very well run city by any standard, Barcelona has plenty to do. The metro system is all anyone really needs to get around, so I'd skip the rental car unless one plans to drive up into the Pyrennes. A must see place is Gaudi's masterpiece--the Sagrada Familia--which is worth visiting morning, dusk, and night for all the photo benefits. |
Villages such as Ripol are good day trips I like taking the metro system out to Monserrat and other such places, including Ripol, which has an excellent Romansque style cathedral. |  | |
