Most of the Honduran Bay Island reputation isn't for the islands themselves, but for the coral reefs that are within easy dive reach. Most of these islands are large flat sandbars studded with palm trees. The forested and rocky Cayos Cochinos are an exception to this pattern, not only providing a beautiful backdrop to the snorkeling experience, but also providing a complex land eco-system that is fully protected by the Honduran national park system.
