"Venezuela's Main Seaport" Puerto Cabello by atufft

Puerto Cabello is a Seaport City

The only railroad in Venezuela runs from Puerto Cabello inland carrying only freight, but the main access for the industrial city of Valencia from the seaport is up a winding freeway that is frequently under reconstruction. So, Puerto Cabello is a place to watch freighters waiting in the quiet waters of the Caribbean.

The Beaches aren't too good right here, but...

Not far away are some of the best beach clubs in the Caribbean. Mostly, for us Puerto Cabello is a quick stop to walk along the embarcadero. It's very popular to eat at one of the fast food joints that line the freeway just uphill from Puerto Cabello, on the way back to Valencia. It's an industrial town though, so there's only a few things to do here.

Puerto Cabello has a colonial center

In the old quarter of town, the old colonial homes are painted bright colors and the cobbled streets are pleasant to walk along. There are a number of bars and restaurants here.
