"Durgerdam" Durgerdam by Pijlmans

Durgerdam Travel Guide: 13 reviews and 49 photos

Durgerdam is a small village close to Amsterdam, stretched along a dyke at the lake IJmeer, part of the IJsselmeer lake.

The Goudriaan route, a hike of about 12 km along the dike and through the polder, starts just outside Durgerdam.

The building on the picture is from 1687 and is know as De Kapel (The Chapel), but is not the church of Durgerdam. It mostly had non-religious functions such as city hall and school.

It was restored after it had been hit by lightning in 1950.
