Ramne is a small, rural village in the mountains close to Ohrid. There is another village called Ramne southeast of Gostivar.

Ramne

Several of the houses are abandoned. The houses have a typical rural Macedonian look. It is a very nice village to see this aspect of Macedonia, since it is so close to Ohrid.

There is a local church, a water source, and a war monument.

You can reach Ramne easily by road from Ohrid.

St Atanasia

Nearby, along the road from Ohrid to Ramne, there is the very nice Church of St Atanasia.

A hike of 6.5 km from Ohrid to the Monastery of St Petka in Velgosti also passes through Ramne and passes the Church of St Atanasia.

I love that kind of local experience: showing up to visit the church and getting a full meal instead!
