Riverside town

Struga is located at the northern point of Lake Ohrid. It has a long sandy beach. Struga is booming as a tourist location, not far from the famous town Ohrid.

Characteristic of Struga is the long boulevard along the river Crni Drim (Black Drim), with restaurants and bars along the riverside.

The river Crni Drim receives its water from Lake Ohrid. You should certainly visit the beginning of the river of the river, where it meets the lake.

In the summer you will see many kids jumping from the characteristic bridges into the crystal clear water of the river Crni Drim.

Where lake and river meet

The Natural History Museum in Struga has many stuffed examples of the fauna from the region and is certainly worth a visit.

Also part of the museum are the Memorial House of the Miladinov Brothers and the Vangel Kodzoman Art Gallery. In the Memorial House of the Miladinov Brothers you can also admire late 4th century mosaics of an Early Christian Basilica from Oktisi.

Bridge over the Crni Drim

The Church of St George is famous for it's unique iconostasis and a 13th century icon of St George that was found in the lake.

Other villages that you can visit in the vicinity of Struga are Kalista and Radozda at the shores of Lake Ohrid and Vevcani and Gorna Belica more land inwards.

Dennis, lovely little page about Struga. We only spent about two hours here when we had to change buses on our way from Tirana to Ohrid.
