The village Velmej is east of the road Skopje-Ohrid, between Kicevo and Ohrid.

A visit to Velmej can be combined with a visit to the All Saints Monastery in Lesani, and the Church of St George in Vrbjani, which are also located between Kicevo and Ohrid.

We came to Velmej to visit the Cave Jaorec.

To our pleasant surprise, we also found some very old churches in Velmej, with beautiful frescoes.

Besides the churches, there are some great examples of rural architecture in the village, as well as an old watermill.
