Street vendors and hawkers: Food Stalls
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Restaurant Name: Mamak and hawker stalls

Malaysia is a country where you can get food 24/7. No worries about starvation when you come to kl. One of my favorites are these stalls called Mamak (mA-mAK) stalls. they can be found nearly everywhere. They serve indian-muslims food ranging from Naan curry to tandoori chicken. Oh, and dont miss out on our specialty: Teh Tarik! If you are not near any mamak stalls, try some hawker stalls. We have wonderful fishball noodles which make really good breakfast or late night supper.

Favorite Dish: mamak: Teh Tarik is a must. try a variety of naans. and chicken kurma. and tuna cutlets. and mutton curry. and fish head curry. and nasi briyani

chinese hawker stall: fishball noodle soup. wanton mee, some of them have little local `kuih` or local cakes for you too.

You can find it everywhere: Nasi Lemak
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Restaurant Name: You can find it everywhere

This is Malaysia's favorite dish for breakfast!.....or even lunch. Its a mixture of santan rice(fragrant coconut rice) with sambal(spicy local chilli paste) with anchovies, peanuts and some veges. You can add lots of stuff to your nasi lemak including chicken curry, squid curry or fish or other veges or tuna cutlets and lots lots more. Don't leave Malaysia if you haven't try this!
Warning : If you can't take spicy food, make sure you have a big big glass of icy cold water with you.

I think one of the best place to get food in Malaysia, is in my very own home! Mom made this for dinner. Its roasted chicken drumstick with mom's special meat sauce, a few throwed-in chicken cheese sausages, mashed potato with gravy and some garden salad(no, not from my backyard) and a good glass of full cream milk. *Burp* Berry flavored Jell-O for dessert anyone?

Little Penang offers a great variety of food. The place decor reminds me of townhouses in old penang and malacca streets.

Favorite Dish: Try our local dish like
Laksa Asam - Spicy-sour seafood soup with noodles, some veges, mint leaves and prawn paste. Also try cendol or ABC(Air Batu Campur) or also known as Ice Kacang. Oh....try the Kari Hantu(Ghost Curry) Rice.

Madam Kwan's: My Fav from Madam Kwan's
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]

  • Restaurant Name: Madam Kwan's

Favorite Dish: Nasi Bojari, this is what i have been raving about. I dream of this dish nights before my flight back to kl. Love the Asam Prawns(sweet, sour and a little spicy prawns) and the tender shredded spicy beef and fried chicken served on a plate with banana leave. The ice cold Black Grass Jelly drink compliments this dish well :)

Malay (Kedah/Perlis) style asam laksa is my absolute favourite. No petis udang please. And lots of wild celery (don't know its name in English). Malaysia should really promote this noodle dish overseas as the ultimate health food!
