A quiet friendly Carib town where people have time exchange local gossip. A park in center of town with huge trees is a gathering place for local poeple and their families.
It is also a place where fruit juice venders and veg and fruit sellers set up their stands. Handicrafts and souvenir have stands here.
Boca del Toro is a small town built at the end of an airstrip on a peninsula of an island. Two streets are where most of the business and many hotels are located. One crosses the peninsula while the other street curves along the shore where buildings are often over water on stilts. It is the place to board water taxis and launches to other Islands
Located on the same island of Colon but at the other side of the island is very quiet clean beach that curves around the North and west dide of the Island .
Where the beach faces North there is a reef 250 meters offshore, where the beach faces the mainland the waves are also small.
To get there from Boca del Toro a speedboat launch makes a trip every hour or you take the bus that traverses the Island when it has a load. Both inexpensive. A small but good restaurant is found nearby and small cottages are rented out to tourist at reasonable prices.
There is another beach called Bluff beach on North-eastern side of Colon island that is suitable for surfing but dangerous for weak swimmers.
