17 Hours In Zagreb

by Mitre - last update: Jul 28, 2003

Zagreb

After a gruelling 12 hour train journey from Bologna, we finally arrived in Zagreb. We were here for the Croatia v Scotland game.

I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived in the city centre. Its not too big and orientation is pretty easy. It reminded me of cites like Vienna & Budapest which I had visited years before. This will have something to with the Hapsburgs ruling Croatia for many years.

As we had limited time here we decided to go for a wander about. We had a browse through the main shopping area (Trg Jelacica). The tourist office here gave us some maps and we decided to do a walking tour of the city.

Zagreb is split into the upper & lower town

Pros:"Tkalčićeva and its cafes. A walk round the upper town. Cheap beer."
Cons:"None that I can think of."
In A Nutshell:"Nice city. Wish I had more time here to explore more."
