Cinque Terre is a beautiful stretch of 5 main cities in Italy. I stayed in Vernazza which, much like the others, is built right into the side of the steep clifs that line the shore. This picture is a post card I bought but it's a great view down into the city of Vernazza. The main beach is right there in the bay.
This is looking out from the main beach in Vernazza out towards the water and the cliff to the right is part of the trail that goes all the way along Cinque Terre through Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore.
