Typical French City?

by in4ik - last update: Jul 30, 2003

First impression. May 19

Walking through the morning city. A lot of barber shops, old cafes or I would even call them sandwich places. Houses are old, unrenovated. The feeling of downturn economy or smth...

Impressed by supermarkets. The choice is terrific for cheese, wine and milk products. Do I need anything else..?

Second look. May 27

Having spent almost 10 days on Riviera, it was a nice come back to Grenoble. Small town is hiding in-between mountains.

Went outside the Grenoble's center to watch waterfalls and old church. Don't remember the name of that location...

Almost local. May 28

Walked through the Old Town two or three times. Visited the only shopping mall outside the city center. Enjoyed river and mountain views once again, and felt as an experienced local :)

Hey I was wondering about the castle on the mountain. Do you know anything about it? Like how old is it, the name, or anything? I was there a year ago and I've been dying to know about it! If you could write back I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
