Vacations are for adventure-NOT relaxation. Meeting the guy on the cover of the Lonely Planet Guide on Cambodia. No, I didn't get his autograph. I paid him $1 to take his picture and that's enough. |
Travel is BEST when it's not comfortable Hot, thirsty, hungry and tired from so much exploring at the temples in the Cambodian jungles. It doesn't get any better than this. La Dolce Vita!
| | A day at Dachau Visiting places like Nazi concentration camps are more meaninful expierences than sitting on a beach in St Tropez. I was so fortunate to have been able to leave this place--millions weren't. A memorable and valuable experience. |
Rome The Greatest City in the World I am an incurable Romaphile. This city has always been a never- ending source of inspiration for me. Someday I will finish reading all of Titus Livius' History of this Eternal city. I have been here three times and will return again and again.
| | Machu Pichu and Peru The best trip ever!!! Flew into Lima, then Cusco, went to Machu Pichu, climbed Huyana Pichu, then went to a lodge in the Peruvian Amazon near Puerto Moldanado, then Puno to see the an Incan graveyard, Uros Islands and the Isle of Taquile. I had a migrane headache from the altitude burnt skin from the sun and came home with a nasty cold but this was heaven!! |
| Antonello (VT name motagna) and Andrew from Austr |
An incredible expeirence My last trip to Italy was the best ever thanks to Antonello (VT Memeber name motagna). We spent an afternoon hiking in the moutains around his home in Pescosolido. |
The best part of Turkey...the people I was in Turkey this past November and what was an even better experience than the trips to the Hagia Sophia, Tokapi Palace, Troy, the Temple of Artemis, and Ephesus was meeting Turks like Mehmet here pictured at a past VT Meeting in Chicago standing in back of me. |
Thanks Dee (deecat) for this picture! At the last VT Meeting at Lou Malnati's in Lincoln Park in Chicago. |
