Look It's Jesus! | Jesus Sighting Near Rabat |
On the way to Rabat and Mdina, my friend stopped her car and said, "You have to see this! It was caused by a lighting strike and people saw Jesus being cruxified."
My reaction was one of intrigue and understanding-due to the fact that Malta is such a Catholic country , locals will find religion in any aspect of their surroundings. Just as I found in other niches of religious figures, this tree was turned into a shrine by the devout locals. |

| | Taking Religion Underground Although there are caves and tunnels cut throughout the limestone islands, the catacombs in Rabat are worth visiting. The two that are open to the public are St. Paul's and St. Agatha's catacombs.
The catacombs were used throughout the ages as a place to hide from foreign invaders and religious inquisitors. They were also used as mass graves and rock cut tombs of the people several hundred years ago.
They are a popular tourist attraction and when I was there, I saw Sharon Stone, who was in Malta shooting a film, admire the catacombs with her personal assistant and bodyguard. Although it was cool to see a movie star in Malta, Sharon still wasn't the highlight to the trip. There are many more interesting things to do and pretty things to see in Malta. |
