My beloved Budapest

Some useful info..

One of the brightest jewel on the Danube, present-day Budapest was created in 1873 from the separate towns of Buda, Pest and Obuda. The city of Buda occupies the foothills on the west bank of the Danube, Obuda (although the same size, it's name means old Buda) is only a town and lies immediately to the north - the boundary only marked by a gradual change in architecture, and the age of the settlement. Pest lies on the east side of the river, on much flatter terrain. The three cities are linked by nine bridges across the Danube in order of from north to south: Eszaki-osszekoto vasuti hid, Arpad hid, Margit hid, Lanchid, Erzsebet hid, Szabadsag hid, Petofi hid, Lagymanyosi hid and Deli-osszekoto vasuti hid.
Last names comes first

'Hello' means 'Hi' and 'Good-bye' too. We also use these: Szia, Szevasz, Jo reggelt, Jo napot, Jo ejt, Csao (~Ciao)...

In the addresses 'V. Garibaldi u. 4. III/21', the Roman numeral V indicates District V. 'Garibaldi u.' means Garibaldi street. 4 is the house number, III is the floor number and 21 is the apartment number.

In Hungary floors of a building are numbered not from the ground floor (foldszint) but from the floor above it, the first floor (I. emelet). After that comes the second floor (II. emelet), etc. A few buildings have a mezzanine (felemelet) between the ground floor and the first floor.

Pros:"atmospheric, artistic city with a lot of things to do"
Cons:"too little time for so many things, sometimes too melancholic"
In A Nutshell:"If you are sensitive for this kind of mood, you will fall in love with Budapest"
