32 hours spent in Venezia

by shirez - last update: Aug 29, 2006

Tried to find some place... some time.. it was VENEZIA!!
Talked about it in the morning at 5pm I found myself on the night train departing to bellissima Venezia...
I was alone not only in the cabin but almost on the whole train..
Felt a little strange.. I never had a night travel through countries by myself, during the night..
Felt really happy though..
After a long, tirening, 16 hours of train trip across Hungary, Austria, Slovenia and Italy, woken up every single hour to show either my passport, either my train ticket..

..I finally arrived in VENEZIA!!
(please don't recognize the bags under my eyes...didnt have a wink on the train!!;-))

... but of course it was WORTH everything!!;-)))

ps
I really wanted to make a beautiful page on Venezia. But when I began to sort the pics, I just realized that we didnt really took pics of the city.. and didnt see really much of the city. We were just walking and talking and got lost somewhere in time and space.. Have only spots of memories and cant really make a story of it. Maybe.. next time.. in Venezia.

Ivan was right... Venezia is sometimes the last station... for a relationship.
Did you know there are a lot of kind of expressions used in Venezia that helps you to not get lost on those little streets?? (for me.. forget..:-)) )
so:
calle - street
rio - canal
campo - square

also..
fondamenta - little street among the canal, usually with the same name
rio terra - filled canal
piscina - square
sotoportico - covered passage
salizzada - main street
riva - wider fondamenta
ruga - street with small shops on both sides
corte - courtyard of a house or castle

PLS note.. In Venezia streets may have more than one name.. then both names are appearing, separated with an 'o' that means 'or'...
But I believe getting lost in Venezia.. is enjoyable a lot..
Otherwise how would we find this beautiful view????

Rea, it is so easy to get lost in Venice, don't sweat it. Nice to have met you in Verona. Pa (baby kettle's dad)
