Walking around

To explore Galicia’s cities the best option is to walk. Cities and towns are not that big and walking around will be the wisest option to admire the great architecture of cities such as Santiago de Compostela. So, when arriving at a city, park your car and wander around. Most cities have good parking facilities.

Galicia - Mountain road - Galicia

Galicia - Mountain road

On the road

To explore Galicia’s natural landscapes - beaches and mountains – I would advise to travel by car. It will allow travellers to go off the beaten path places, with few visitors around. Roads are ok and safe. To arrive in Galicia, both from other Spanish destinations or from Portugal, there are highways or similar roads. Within Galicia, to arrive in some smaller villages and to wander through the mountains the roads are narrower and winding.
