Not quite sure what to say about Prague: expectations were so high and when we arrived in the city ... there was a mixture of feelings, I can't exactly express what I felt. I was both overwhelmed by such beauty everywhere but at the same time I found it way too touristy and somewhat felt disappointed.
We arrived in Prague very early in the morning - 7am - after a night fly with the bankrupt low-cost company Sky Europe (which no longer operates flights). We went to the city using one of those shared taxis and hopped off by Old Square Town. It had been raining and sky was still greyish. Everything looked greyish and wet, somewhat glamour less. Also, those days there was some kind of fair at Old Town Square, which was occupied with wooden shelters selling food and beer. Cleaning after the night before was still to start, so...
But on we went, immediately saw the clock tower and the Our Lady Before Tynn church towers' rising high above the buildings. Soon we found which street lead us to our hotel in Wenceslau Square. The more we approached Wenceslau Square the more disappointed I became: not only was it grey, wet and dirty, but also there was a lot of works going on on the street. Not the start I had anticipated for glamorous Prague.
After we discovered our hotel we went through the check-in and left our luggage, being that from then on things started to get better, way much better!! And then, after a reinvigorating and delicious breakfast my fascination for Prague began to grow.

This is another city I love!
Hi micas, a nice page of Prague, I like the overview that you are giving! Thanks :-)
Fabulous start with outstanding photos. I especially like the shot of the Old Jewish Cemetery as well as the one of the Wenceslas Square with the flowers in the fore ground.
Hmm . . . when I arrived in Prague it was also grey, wet and dirty, and to make matters worse it was my 30th birthday, which was a crisis point because in those days our motto was 'Never trust anyone over thirty.'
We love Prague and hope to visit it again. Your photo " From the Tower in Old Town Hall" is great!
Ah - I wondered where you were standing when you took that excellent opening photo! I'm glad things picked up for you and thanks for the interesting photos of your Prague wanderings!
