Caminha is a nice, nostalgic town located in the top north of Portugal (Minho, Viana do Castelo district). Caminha is situated at the mouth of the River Minho, just opposite to Spain which is at an easy boat trip distance. Due to its strategic position, the Celts and the Romans occupied Caminha some centuries ago. Once a mighty port nowadays is a quiet town.
I have the best memories of Caminha - the narrow cobbled streets, the typical architecture of northern Portuguese villages, the robust and secular houses made of stone, the square that is the central point of this charming village, the old fashioned shops that sell everything and that you no longer find in big cities, the walks along the river and the sunsets, and great fabulous food!! |
