Pousada do Monte de Santa Luzia: Astonishing view and quiet surroundings Pousada Monte Santa Luzia Review

Pousada do Monte de Santa Luzia is located on the hill with the same name. It is situated about 5km north of Viana do Castelo and overlooks the city and the River mouth.

This hotel belongs to Pousadas de Portugal, a Portuguese network of high standard accommodation, usually situated on historical buildings or areas of particular natural beauty or historical meaning. This one is a case of exceptional location, being that the view from the rooms is, in my opinion, its most valuable asset.

The rooms are very comfortable and spacious enough for a couple and a child (3rd bed), as was my case. The decoration is classic; the standard equipment of the rooms is: cable tv, mini bar, air conditioned, safe, air dryer.

Service is very good, being that attendants are always polite and helpful. Breakfast is tasty and has a large selection of goods (continental breakfast) being that typically has local specialities.

The negative point of this Pousada is the swimming pool: I didn’t find it clean enough. However if you intend to use it, just ask for pool towels at the reception desk as they will provide them for free.

At walking distance from the Pousada there are Celt Iberian ruins; I cannot account for its interest as I didn’t visit. Also, the Basilica is within walking distance and, no doubt, worth visiting.
