The structures in the "ria" (estuary or bay, rather than river) are called "bateas": wooden rafts from which ropes are hung so that mussels attach themselves to it and can be 'harvested' later. They look great when the sun sets behind the Cies Islands... | evona Mon May 31, 2004 21:11 UTC

I came a few times to Vigo, while working on cruiseships, but I do not remember that great horse-sculpture. Obvously it was built after 1985... |
