Great Barrier Reef - the grand-daddy of all reefs! | The Great Barrier Reef - a diver's paradise! |
It goes without saying that the Great Barrier Reef is the most celebrated in the world. It is the largest natural feature on earth stretching more than 2,300km along the northeast coast of Australia from the northern tip of Queensland to just north of Bundaberg....and is visible from space. This oceanic marvel actually consists of over 2,800 coral reefs, thriving in shallow tropical waters. Its marine life diversity rivals that of the rainforests. The threat of declination of the world's reefs are also similar to that of the rainforests...and we all need to be worldly with our care and concerns for these precious wonders. |
| Rainforest Habitat Wildlife Sanctuary - May, 2006 |
| | Rainforest Habitat Wildlife Sanctuary This place is a MUST SEE if you're in Port Douglas. We actually experienced "Breakfast with the Birds"...literally. What an amazing sanctuary, where birds are the feature presentation. The Rainforest Habitat is situated on 8 acres of rainforest land dedicated to giving visitors a sneak-peek into the lives of these awesome species in their natural surroundings. There are four unique environments populated with a wide array of birds, animals, insects, & reptiles. They display rainforest, wetlands, woodlands and grasslands areas here.
