  • The first private museum in Thailand. There 're a big collection of Ban Chieng artefacts and so many styles of objects from Thailand and others countries.

    The one of attraction thing 's the lacquer pavillion as you see in the picture. Built in Ayudhaya period.

    Aparts from things, the original Thai tradition house with greenery atmosphere 's so wonderful. and the art gallery in a new building exhibit a temporary show almost the year.

  • Just cross the Chao Phya river by ferry at Tha Chang pier. There’s an old temple which built before Bangkok city or Rattanakosin town. But almost of building dated to be Early Rattanakosin and later period.

    The attraction things ‘s a library or Hor Trai which ‘ve ever been a house of Pre King of Rattanakosin, Taksin King. He dedicated his house for temple. Inside ‘s a mural painting depicted about Buddhism story.

    Directions: You can cross the river by ferry from Tha Chang pier near the Grand Palace. It’s so easy to find.

  • Nice atmosphere with so many activities like football , table tennis , swimming , basketball ,bird watching ,…… The most poppular ‘s biking bicycle around the park by no others vehicle,cause all route made for bicycle only.
    Bicycle for hire : 20 Baht per day.
    Open daily 04.30-21.00 hrs.

  • Or called Wat Kanlaya.
    History : one rich government officer named TO ,donated his land for building temple in 2368 B.E. and he also donated this temple to the King Rama III , King gave a name Kalayanamitr temple means the best friend . And joined to built viharn and a big Buddha image .
    the must see things:
    -Long Por Tor ot Sam Por Kong in Chinese. A big buddha image housed in a big viharn.Very wellknown and poppular among Thai-Chinese in Thailand.
    -Mural piantings in small viharn by King Rama III 's artisans , represented the episode of Buddha's life together with lifestyle and scenery of Thailand in the reign of King Rama III.
    - Mid of every seventh month in Chinese year ,there're big donation festival in this temple.

    How to go :
    Take a ferry boat fron Pal Klong Tarad market pier.It'll cross the river and temple'll be on the right.

  • Just opposite Wat Phar Kaew on the East side.It 's a former Military Ministry.On the front ground,there 're some ancient cannons represented as open museum. Almost of them 're in history and used since Ayutthaya period to Rattakosin period. All cannons have a description and dating.

  • Or in full name "Wat Phra Sri Rattana Sassadaram.Wat Phra Keaw means the temple of the Emerald Buddha.This temple is a Royal temple within the Grand Palace and no any monks resided there.It was first constructed in King Rama I 's reign in 1782 at the same of establishing Bangkok.
    The most important of this temple is the Emerald Buddha,the most venerated Buddha image in Thailand. The Emerald Buddha image carved from green jade in meditation attitude and belongs to Chiang Saen style.It was first found in a stupa in Chiang Rai in 1434 ,then it was taken to Lampang and Chiang Mai.In 1552 the King of Chaing Mai who was a son of Laotain King,took the Buddha image to Luang Prabang and moved to Vientiane. It located there for 226 years. In 1778,Thai army captured Vientiane and brought the Emerald Buddha image back to Bangkok. It was kept in Wat Arun for 4 years.After founding Bangkok as capital city,King Rama I moved the Buddha image to house in Wat Phra Kaew. In Thai tradition,the Buddha image have 3 seasonal costumes -Summer,Cool and Rainy ,all made from gold and jewellry.The changing ceremony held 3 times a year and the King 's the changing person.
    The important buildings 're: 1)Ubosot or the ordination hall where housed the Emerald Buddha image. It was first built in King Rama I.
    2)A group of the Mondop ,the Royal Pantheon and the Golden Stupa-stands on the high base. All these buildings have own functions and own styles.
    3)The gallery surrounded Ubosot with mural paintings depicted about Ramakien,an influence od Ramayana from Indian Epic.
    4)The Statues of Demons as guardians. Standing at the gates passing through gallery and inner area. There 're six pairs of the Demons. Thai called Yaksa.

  • Wat Phra Chetupon or Wat Pho is the first category of royal monasteries. This temple have a long history since the reign of King Taksin of Thonburi period,called Wat Potaram. In the beginning of Rattanakorin or Bangkok period, it was rebuilt by King Rama I in 1793. Then the name of this temple changed to Wat Phra Chetupon Vimolmanglawat and changed again by King Rama IV to Wat Phra Chetupon Vimolmanglaram.This temple 's one important temple of Rattanakosin so almost kings came for built and renovated some buildings.
    There are: 1)The Ubosot - Originally constructed in the reign of King Rama I and enlarged in King Rama III's reign. Inside housed some Buddha images,the principal one in Ayutthaya style, was found in Thonburi and moved to this temple by King Rama I. The pedestal of this image housed the ashes of King Rama I. Other decotaive things in this building 're also interesting,such as mural painting depicted scences of heavens,Buddha's life,Jataka stories and folklore.
    2) Viharns.There 're so many viharns in this temple and all have own functions such as Compass point viharns - connected the galleries on the 4 sides of Ubosot, Corner viharns,Viharn Noi or small viharn,Viharn of Reclining Buddha where built in the reign of King Rama III,housed a 46 meters in lenght Reclining Buddha image .
    3) Stupas.There 're about 95 stupas in various sizes.The most important 're the 4 Great Stupas,one housed damaged Buddha image from Ayutthaya called Phra Sri San Phet.And all 4 great stupas was built by King Rama I,III and IV.
    There 're more interesting buildings where built in Rattakosin style such as Mondop,belfries,pavillions and more.. Also,this temple wellknown as massage school. It derived from the Inscribed stone slabs and statues of Rishis telling about Medical prescription and excercise.

  • Old temple where built before Rattanakosin kingdom. Later , on the reign of King Rama I ,he gave this temple for Mon monks who participated the army and he won .That 's why he gave a name Chana Sonkram.
    Must see:
    -A big viharn in unique style which is hard to find in Bangkok.
    -2 beautiful white chedi.
    - Monk wooden residences behide the temple,some 're too old.

  • Or Wat Sraket with a big artificial mountain called Phu Khao Tong means golden mountain. On the topmost located the golden chedi where contains an important relic.
    There 're a long stairway reach to the top. It 's a great place for watching old Bangkok area.
    Every Loy Kra Tong festival,this temple always held a temple festival which can bring you back to the old time of temple festival in Thailand. Don't miss to visit this festival if you 're around that time there.
