Nakhon Ratchasima province or short name as "Khorat" located in the Northeastern,Thailand.It has a long history since the pre-historic time. As you can see the pre-historic evidences from the cave painting in Chan Ngam Mountain and the Ban Prasart Pre-historic site where have found many skeletons,potteries,.. as the big community.
In 12th Buddhist Century,the Dvaravati Kingdom have spread to this area which can found in Sung Noen District; Sema Ancient city and Khorakhapura Ancient city.
Around 14th-18th Buddhist Century,Khmer Kingdom scattered to this area.There're so many evidences which tolds this part of hstory,such as Prasart Pimai sanctuary,Prasart Phnomwan sanctuary and more...
In Ayutthaya period,in King Borom Trai Lokkanath's reign,appeared the name of Nakhon Rachasima city in Kingdom law. It became the main city in King Narai's reign.The King have moved the location from Khorakhapura city to the present area.The plan of new city designed by French Architect. The plan is square shape surrounded with city wall and moat.There was 15 forts and city gates at for cardinal points.
Later,in Rattanakosin period,King Rama I ranged the city to be the first class city. In King Rama III's reign,there was the rebel of King Anuwong,Vientaine to free from Thailand. That time,the heroine "Khun Ying Mo" led the local to fight with King Anuwong army.In King Rama V's reign,he ordered to built the first railway in Thailand from Bangkok-Nakhon Rachasima.
Nowaday,Khorat stands as the bussiness city of Lower Northeastern.There're some big department stores,factories,Industrail areas,..... It's the big city with natural places and historic places.
