"southern ireland a place to be and see" eiresoldier's Profile
my name is karl i live in cork city southern ireland i love to travel bringing my family away to different destinations every year but want to tell about my home city here in ireland and whats good to see here this is cork city itself
this place is allihies its one of my favourite places in west cork scenery coastline fresh air friendliness and humor of people that are from these parts is unbelievable many writers poets singers travel to here just for the intrigue and calmness of this place but hey its free and welcomes everyone to see it on a nice summers night here its breathtaking
next door to west cork is a place they named the kingdom when you enter the kingdom of kerry i gives you that kind of feeling of rich land and scenery dingle is one of my favourites and the story that goes with dingle is the claim to fame that st brendan set out there and discovered north america i reckon he had a faster ship then the vikings anyhows but if you visit dingle youll see its story and stories
well after dingle in kerry a nice trip would be to ferry across into co clare another great county of rich scenery coastlines and much to see there also i forgot to mention every countys got there old heritage of castles from long times past and most of them you can stop and get a meal or drinks in these heres bunratty castle which is quiet beautifull
on your travels through rural parts of co clare youll come across these there called dolmans and the story of these go real back centuaries its believed to have been put there by the ancient high kings of ireland some say others say druids but i believe its our own royal past kings that had these built as momuments of there times (ha bet you never new ireland had royalty ;) but none the less celtic and are great to see when dusk is coming in the background
oops i nearly forgot to tell you about our very own castle in cork its called blarney castle and is famous for its stone the story goes you kiss the blarney stone you concieve the gift of the gab translated you cant shut up conversation wise but its world famous and alot of people visit and kiss the blarney stone but its not that easy its on top of the castle and you got to ly down on your back hold bars with each hand lean back in which you will see how far up you are looking down and kiss this stone of course theres a photographer there to take your snap but its safe really so no worries heres a look at it
this is the view you can expect from the top of blarney castle the garden surrounds are beautifull and its a great place for a family picnic or just relax in the sun you can get the usual drinks foods ice creams in blarney village and some lovely restaraunts there to
if you visit here you got to kiss the stone its rumored you recieve the gift of the gab translated your never stuck for words in conversation its abit of a scarey expirience if you suffer from virtigo but its quite safe now the rumors that go with the stone is one that a macarthy saved a witch from drowning in the castle grounds and as a reward she gave macarthy the stones the other is it was a thank you from robert the bruce of scotland in appreciation for four thousand soldiers which helped him fight in a battle in scotland against the english either ways the mystic and history that goes is interesting all you be short is finding a leprachaun jumping out but you never know maybe there hiding in the grounds somewhere;-)
