Stockholm - a second NZ?

by Kiwigirlie - last update: Feb 9, 2005

Just like home only colder!

Lovely Stockholm!
I have now been to Sweden and Stockholm three times (my last visit Aug 2004) and my fondness of the place only grows! It's just an amazing country!
The colours are amazing!! The red farm houses with white trim, the deer in the fields, the lakes, the wooden carved horses, the style of Sweden - it's one of my favourite countries and I have only seen a small portion of it.
Cowboy in Stockholm...?

To Carry from our Norwegian Road Trip 2004

After the delights of Bodo we came back down on the night train (highly recommend getting a sleep berth!). From Trondheim we drove across to Ostersund and then to Sundsvall. We carried on down to a little cove called Skarsa which was quite nice... Austin had a swim (the water considerably warmer here than in Norway) and we had a lovely night shaded under pine trees. This particular area had lots of stud farms so there were horses everywhere. Very nice. Next morning we carried on down to Stockholm and found a camp ground just south of the city. We got into Stockholm quite late, so we ended up going into the city the next day. I took Austin to the Vasa Museum - A MUST!!! Being a sea baby he loved it. And we went for a water cruise around the city as well which was quite nice. We had arranged to meet up with some friends for lunch and then afterward we went window shopping and walked around Gamla Stan. After a lovely dinner we headed back to the camp site pretty tuckered out to be honest!

Pros:"The colours, smells and sensations are a delight"
Cons:"Got to watch those icey man holes - I nearly broke my neck slipping on one!"
In A Nutshell:"You have to visit just for the scenery!"
