Around the harbour area of Correljo is Plaza Felix Estèvez, an intimate criss-cross of cobbled streets, small privately owned shops and memorable eating places, some overlooking the beach.
The atmosphere is pleasantly lazy and sitting at a café/bar people watching is an appropriate profession in its own right. For the more energetic is Avenida del Franco with a tapering avenue of shops. From here it is an amble along the coast to the 10km of shocking white Saharan sand and dunes.
Overlooking the harbour of Correljo is the ferry terminal and the tiny uninhabited island of Los Lobos. A lazy stroll reveals a handful of boats that advertise excursions to the island, including M Y Isla de Lobos which leaves at 10.15 and collects you from the island at 16.00.
I live a ferry ride away on Lanzarote, I find the island tranquil and beautiful, with far less commercialisation than Lanzarote. I will be updating these pages during my subsequent visits.
Tourist info: Plaza Grande de Correlejo. 928 862 235 open mon-fri 9.00-13.00, 16.30 -19.30; sat 9.00 – 12.00 |

deecat Sun Aug 13, 2006 11:41 UTC Enticing descriptions of Isla de Fuerteventura. That introductory photograph is, indeed, powerful. | Bwana_Brown Fri Apr 1, 2005 16:48 UTC This looks very inviting! I always had the Canary Islands in my mind as one of the places that I would love to visit. However, so far no luck!! |
