Santorini is one of those islands that you just have to visit, no matter how touristy it is. It's really unlike any other. It used to be a volcano, so the towns sit above the 'caldera". The cliffs are 1500 feet high, which allow for amzing views. The views from the town of Oia, on the Northern most part of the island, are some of the most spectacular.
Even though Oia is touristy as well, it still retains a charming atmosphere. By far, the best place to stay on the island.

The big draw here is the sunset. People come from all over the island to get a view of the famous Oia sunset.

Amoudi bay is a charming little fishing village, about 1500 feet below Oia. You can either hike down, or drive down. It is so charming and quaint, with several little tavernas right on the water, each with fresh seafood. My favorite is Katina taverna. The best fish and octopus on the island.
