Finding Your Way Around Barcelona

Easy Structure of Barcelona

Centre of the Barcelona is PLAÇA CATALUNYA for which you find the OLD TOWN and some of the MUSEUMS, the historical PLACES of tourist must visit. The famous RAMBLAS rove or stroll from the square to COLOMBUS STATUE , just before getting the PORT. On your east of the RAMBLAS is what we call the BARRIO GÓTIC-to your west, is the EL BARRI DEL RAVAL.
Colombus Statue subsequently PASSEIG (or Passaje) MARITIM - SEASIDE WALK - to the EAST side is the MOLL DE LA FUSTA then PORT VELL. BARCELONETTA quarter follow through all the way to port OLYMPIC (Olympic Port).
On your west side is the EL PARALLEL (Parallel Avenue) you get to the PLAÇA D´ESPAÑA, commencing the MONTJUIC, one of the mountains of Barcelona. Further more is another mountain, called TIBIDABO,(which happens to be the highest mountain 512 in altitude from sea level ). DIAGONAL Avenue (or Avenida de Diagonal)(measured to be the 5th Avenue of Barcelona) is another interesting LANDMARK, (many boutiques as well as fine shopping can be found here) Diagonal crosses the whole city of Barcelona which is why they named it Diagonal. Between the DIAGONAL and PLAÇA CATALUNYA is the zone called EIXAMPLE AREA from widely known PLAÇA CERDÁ. These zones or areas like GRACIÁ, LES CORTS, SARRÍA – SANT GERVASIETC, are remnants of the beautiful city of Barcelona adding a richer traditional or way of life.
L'EIXAMPLE, with its perfect blocks of sqaure buildings forming a gridded prototype has as it´s principal avenues, the PASSEO DE GRACIÁ, you will come across the “LA PEDRERA” (or Casa Mila) of Antonio Gaüdi.
Many other historial buildings would be: SAGRADA FAMILIÁ (Cathedral (Gaudi), Parc de la Citadella, Barri de la Ribera, Parc Güell, l'llila Diagonal and etc. Enjoy the beautiful city of Barcelona. Marieinspain@yahoo.com
