Comfort Suites: Comfort Suites is across the street from the beach

This Comfort Suites is still quite new and in an area that has not been overdeveloped, yet. Even though it has a Corpus Christi address it is right on the beach on "the island". We had a room with a King bed with a partial room divider and a sofabed. It was clean and attractive with good lighting and plenty of electrical outlets. The bathroom had a large granite top vanity area that was taller than usual which is also more modern design. The towels and face cloths, which were of good quality , were on a shelf below the sink area. There was no tub in the bathroom, only a large, nicely tiled shower with a glass wall and door. It is big enough for two people. The beds were great - really comfy! I think I notice they offer one firm pillow and one soft pillow also. Nice.
Breakfast was very good. They have the waffle makers in the shape of Texas - and the waffles are light and delicious. They had eggs that did not seem to be made from fresh eggs but they had sausage each morning along with bagels, bread, sweet rolls, muffins, juice, milk, cereal and fresh fruit. The kitchen worker did a good job keeping the servers full of hot food.
They also have free internet in all the rooms and a business room if you don't bring your laptop. The lobby was very attractive with a nicely tiled floor - even the elevator floor was made of granite. The outdoor pool was not heated and the first night we were there the hot tub was cold. The next night it was somewhat better, but we did not have an abundance of hot water in the shower at all times. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a few days of R&R on Padre Island.

Unique Qualities: As it is right now, the ocean can be seen from the rooms in the front. I'm not sure if that will always be the case. Some other hotel might be developed on the vacant land across the street. The Holiday Inn is across the street and they have a great band in the evening.
There is also a good concrete walking area along this part of the beach.
