The Julian Pie Company

About sixty miles north of El Cajon is the town of Julian, famous for its Apple Pie. Until the fearsome Cedar Fire of late October, 2003 the drive up Highway 79 was green and beautiful. Now it is charred and quite bleak. The fire consumed the area around the Southern end of Lake Cuyamaca on Hwy 79. However, Julian itself is 4200 feet in elevation and is "open for business" again. We enjoyed our day there.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Bucolic small town in the mountains.
  • Cons:Can be quite crowded on weekends.
  • In a nutshell:Don't miss the apple pie!

The WHite House B & B burned down in the terrible fires of 2003. I hope to visit Julian soon. Kat
