Interesting City | Quintessential Amsterdam (March 2009) |
Amsterdam was a long time in the planning. We were always nearby but never got a chance until this time to visit.
Well, it is a very interesting city to say the least. It's a place that everyone seems to end up. At least it felt that way. For March it was certainly very crowded.
Mostly it's a city that sure is unique. Where else can a Red Light district flourish opposite a church? Coffeeshops serving weed were certainly in full operation as the doors were closed yet one could have a very fragrant sample from outside on the sidewalk. The canals give the city its identity as well. So many canals, so many canals that look alike! But once one becomes familiar with them it's easy to walk around and not get lost. Museums and sights are also fantastic. |
| One of the main canals (Forgot which one though) |
