Packing Lists: Your friend: A 22" rolling suitcase

  • Luggage And Bags: Done this so many times: packed too many clothes for just a week! What with 9/11 and security checks paring down to one 22" suitcase is the way to go nowadays.

Select all the clothes you wish to bring and leave half of them at home! There will be more room in the suitcase for souvenirs...

But be sure to take your suitcase full of valuables with you onboard the plane-do not check it in. If you do need to check in the suitcase, do not put anything of value in there. In fact, one great way to bypass the unlocked suitcase thing, is to get some cable wire ties which are really cheap. Pass them through the zippers on the suitcase to secure them; that way your zippers won't open up accidentally and you get a sort of reassurance no one will open your suitcase as easily as if there were no protection at all. However, if security needs to look inside your suitcase then they can snip off the ties. For yourself, you can snip off the ties with a nail clipper.

Packing Lists: Pack A Travel Alarm Clock

  • Miscellaneous: A typical Parisian hotel doesn't equip its rooms with alarm clocks as is standard in the US. You can always request the reception desk to set-up an automatic wake-up call if you need that. But if you wish to know the time in your room you need to bring a travel alarm clock with you. There are some brands that include feature a built-in flashlight also.

  • Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Alot of people want to know what is Parisian weather like during different parts of the year. Of course, the weather can be generalized for a specific season. However, Parisian weather is highly changeable. This means that one can visit in October and arrive in Paris to full sun and balmy temperatures. But the following day may do a 360 degree change and turn out to be cold and drizzly. It happens and it's unpredictible. One piece of advice is to pack a small, folding umbrella. This way you are prepared and you don't have to go to spend extra euro for an umbrella.

Packing Lists: Another Carryall Is Useful

  • Luggage And Bags: It always happens sooner or later: you will wish you had a large bag to carry your daily items. Instead of realizing this after you arrive in Paris pack either a backpack or a tote bag in your luggage or carryon. It's a huge lifesaver when you end up buying things you didn't expect to buy. And you can use it as an additional carryon bag if it's necessary. But make sure you are within your carryon baggage allowance first!

    Packing Lists: Good Old-fashioned Film

  • Photo Equipment: Yes, I know, how many of us actually carry the traditional old-fashioned camera nowadays? Well, there are some of us who still wish to use these types of cameras. In case you are one of these visitors to Paris, please be sure to bring extra rolls of film. You sure don't want to stop and look for some overpriced souvenir shop to buy your extra film. The prices in Paris are tremendous.

Packing Lists: Pack A Small Flashlight
  • Tip Rating:

  • Miscellaneous: It's helpful to pack a mini flashlight for those midnight trips to the WC. Hotel rooms are compact making your chances of stubbing your toe easier and sometimes the light switches are not in convenient locations. So one way to avoid this is to have a flashlight handy.

  • Photo Equipment: digital camera is the best way to take pics-absolutely crisp shots afforded. However, be sure to get a converter (if nec.) for the battery charger! Nothing quite so sad as realizing you have a dead battery and can't take shots of all the beautiful Parisian scenery!!:(

  • Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Cobblestones are terrible for your feet so be sure you bring a couple of well-fitting, comfortable shoes. Interchange the shoes as necessary. However, if the pointy toe/stiletto heel look is for you (I like it too), hey, go for it. Just be careful:)

In winter (for women) it is not only necessary but also nice-looking to wear knee-high boots. However, to be practical, make sure the soles are non-skid and the heels not too high.

im going to paris in march of 2010. Was there in 2005 but twisted ankle kept me from getting all the joys of the city. Next time try the duquense eiffel hotel.
