Vancouver Museum - Vancouver

Vancouver Museum

Vancouver Museum HR MacMillan Space Centre Review

The Vancouver Museum, which is located in the same building as the HR Macmillan Space Centre, is an excellent museum that walks you through the history of the city of Vancouver and the area around it. You can learn about the people who built the city as well as native inhabitants of the area. There's also a special exhibit right now on the Sasquatch! I recommend this museum. The admission for adults is $10. See their web site for more information.

Directions: Located at the the HR Macmillan Space Centre in Vanier Park. Can be reached by False Creek Ferries.

Gastown Steam Clock - Vancouver

Gastown Steam Clock

Gastown Steam Clock Gastown Review

The famous steam clock in Gastown of Vancouver is just a cool clock, worth to take a picture of. The clock was built by horologist Raymond Saunders, owner of The Gastown Steam Clock Company just opposite the clock. He built it in 1977 based on an 1875 design. So here it is, the main attraction in Gastown!

Museum of Anthropology - Vancouver

Museum of Anthropology

Learn about the culture of the natives... Museum of Anthropology Review

Here at the Museum of Anthropology you can learn a lot about the culture and the complex social and ceremonial life of the native people who lived in this area of British Columbia. You can really study the artistic traditions these people have and appreciate how beautiful these works of art are. The visible storage area of the museum has an incredible amount of objects it has collected from all around the world. You can actually open drawers to study the artifacts.

Museum of Anthropology - Vancouver

Museum of Anthropology

Museum of Anthropology Museum of Anthropology Review

The Museum of Anthropology located at the University of British Columbia is definitely a must-see because it has large collections of archaeological material and ethnographic objects from around the world. However, I recommend this museum because it has a large collection of items from the aboriginal peoples of coastal British Columbia. Not only are there lots of totem poles, large and small, but you can see lots of other unique and magnificent sculptures and art works of the area. The admission is $9 for adults and $7 for students. However, the admission is free on Tuesdays from 5-9pm. Parking outside the museum is by using parking meters.

Capilano Suspension Bridge - Vancouver

Capilano Suspension Bridge

Totem Poles at the Bridge Capilano Suspension Bridge Review

If you're searching for totem poles in the Vancouver area, the Capilano Suspension Bridge has some excellent totem poles located near the entrance to the park. These are located at the Totem Park inside the park. Excellent place to take a group photo here.

Also when you are at the Capilano Suspension Bridge park, there are six locations where you can get your park passport stamped including the Totem Park so that when you leave the park, you can get an official "I Made It" validation!

Capilano Suspension Bridge - Vancouver

Capilano Suspension Bridge

Unique Capilano Suspension Bridge Capilano Suspension Bridge Review

The Capilano Suspension Bridge is definitely a must-see because you get to walk on a suspension bridge that sways and creaks and spans 450 feet across and 230 feet above the Capilano River. You really think the bridge is not strong enough to hold all these people, but they claim it is strong enough to support the weight of ten heavy-duty military fighter planes. The admission to the park is $21.95 for adults and $16.50 for students with ID. (I've seen a $1 off per person coupon somewhere. You can find it on the web.)

Art galleries on Granville Island - Vancouver

Art galleries on Granville Island

Lots of art galleries and studios... Granville Island Review

Granville Island is home to the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, so there are lots of art galleries and studios on Granville Island. You can see the works of artists of the institute in these galleries. There's also a glass blowing studio where you can see blown glass art being made. All the art and glass works are for sale, but obviously at expensive prices. But if you like art or look at art, Granville Island is for you.

German bratwurst and sausages - Vancouver

German bratwurst and sausages

Very delicious food for lunch here... Granville Island Review

As I said before, you can't really get by Granville Island without craving for the food. It was only after 10am in the morning and I was already starting to think about lunch. (This picture is a proof.) Granville Island, or the whole city of Vancouver as a matter of fact, offers so much diversity in its food, so I have to say a visit to Vancouver should partly be a culinary trip. So come prepared to eat!

Granville Island Public Market - Vancouver

Granville Island Public Market

Granville Island Public Market Granville Island Review

At the Granville Island Public Market, this is where you can get fresh fruits, vegetables, and meats in Vancouver. Aisles and aisles of fresh produce is really an eye opener. You can also get fresh breads, bagels and handmade fudge here. There's also a section that sells tasty meals, snacks, and drinks that you can have for lunch. For example, there's chinese and japanese food, german sausages, soups, etc. that you can buy here. Excellent place to walk around to see how great living in Vancouver is.
