| | Gorges and Waterfalls Located in New York State's Finger Lakes Region, Ithaca is a small city that is situated on the southern shore of Cayuga Lake. It is home to the famous Ivy League institution Cornell University. The campus, which boasts a large student population, is located just east of downtown Ithaca. The campus, like the entire region, has a lot of hills, gorges, and beautiful waterfalls. A scenic view of Cayuga Lake can be seen from the campus, which is higher in elevation than the downtown area and the lake. The neat, traditional downtown area has great shopping and dining opportunities. The Ithaca Commons pedestrian mall has a lot of galleries, shops, restaurants, and bars. The famous vegetarian Moosewood Restaurant is also located in downtown Ithaca. The Ithaca area no doubt also offers visitors lots of hiking, biking, skiing, and other outdoor activities. Enjoy Ithaca! |
