| View of Boston from the MIT Campus |
| | Boston is one of the more unique cities in the United States. There are a lot of college students in this city because the city is made up of 50 colleges within 50 square-miles and is therefore home to 250,000 students. There are so many colleges here that for you as a traveler, a trip to Boston will not be complete without a visit to some of the campuses of colleges and universities. Another interesting fact: One in every five people on the streets of Boston is affiliated with higher education; that is, he or she is associated with a college or university in the Boston area. |
| Harvard University, Cambridge, MA. |
| | In Cambridge, which is located across the Charles River from Boston, you will find the campuses of Harvard University and MIT. Harvard University offers tours of the campus for travelers.
Other than colleges, Boston is made up of history that changed America. The Freedom Trail in Boston will take you through all the historical sites of the city. It starts at the Boston Common, runs through sites like the Old State House, City Hall, Quincy Market, the North End (a.k.a. "Little Italy"), Bunker Hill, and ends across the Boston Harbor at the U.S.S. Constitution.
The Quincy Market is now a big food court that offers a wide range of cuisine. You will find everything from Chinese and Indian food to local New England food (you shouldn't miss a bowl of Boston Clam Chowder) and American grills that include the Philly Cheese Steak.
The North End is comprised of narrow streets just like in Italy. There you can find some great Italian restaurants and Italian ice cream.
Enjoy Boston! |
