Control Yourself!: Too much seafood?
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Do control yourself with the amount of seafood you eat. One whole crab can fill you up pretty good. These crabs look pretty large too. And with lots of seafood cocktails and fried items, you may overeat. Seafood contains a lot of fat and cholesterol. So control yourself!

Weather: Good weather for the most part
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • San Francisco has pleasant weather for the most part, but it can get pretty windy here. During the winter it can also get pretty cold, and with the wind it can get really cold. But it rarely snows in the San Francisco Bay Area, so you don't have to worry about that. During the summer you can thank the sea breeze that makes San Francisco the "Air Conditioned City". Just to give you an example, during the summer the temperature in the Bay Area can be about 50-60 degrees F, while just inland (say in Sacramento the temperature can reach over 90 degrees F). That being said, there are days during the summer when the Bay Area can be pretty hot due to an offshore wind.

Driving S.F.: Driving to downtown, wharf area
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Driving can be difficult in San Francisco. Be sure to have a map handy or know your route before you start driving. If you're coming from the south (San Jose, Santa Cruz), I suggest using I-280 north, and then taking California Highway 1 north and finally Highway 101 south (don't cross the Golden Gate Bridge by following 101 north) into downtown. It's probably a little less confusing. Also, if you are driving a car with manual transmission, be prepared to deal with extremely hilly streets.

Driving S.F.: Parking in the wharf area
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Parking can also be a difficulty in downtown and the FIsherman's Wharf and Pier 39 areas. But there are plenty of parking lots or garages that you can park your car in, but the prices are pretty high. But if you search hard enough, you can find one that charges $15 for a day.

Yan, your description of Chinatown in SF is very accurate! As a working person in SF, I love going to Chinatown at lunch time. The Chinese restaurants there are the best.
